When Victoria showed up to CrossFit Oakland Park, it was obvious she didn’t know what to expect. Nevertheless, she took the bull by the horns and tried her hardest to learn all the movements we were trying to teach her. Within a few months, we saw a physical change, and with that came her confidence. Now she is an amazing athlete! She tries hard and it’s paying off. Congratulations Victoria, you deserve to be called the CrossFit Oakland Park Athlete of the Month.

  1. Why did you decide to join CrossFit Oakland Park?

    I was trying to lose weight, but was not seeing any results from working out on my own in a traditional gym. I enjoy group classes but they are not kid friendly. I also wanted a personal trainer but couldn’t financially commit. This box had all that I was looking for and less than 3 miles from my house. A blessing.

  3. What has kept you at CrossFit Oakland Park?

     Each week and month I was learning new things and challenging my body to do things I never thought I could do and each time I succeeded, I wanted to do more. Also, even though I have to scale most workouts I still feel like I “belong” and fit in with the other athletes. Most importantly the never ending support and encouragement from the coaches, members, friends and family is what has kept me at this box…. Not to mention tolerating my 5 yr old son that I try to keep out the way.

  4. What is your athletic background?

    I played sports growing up but I never stuck to anything because I hated being in the heat. So I have no “real” athletic background.

  5. What are your athletic goals in and outside of CrossFit?

     My goal within crossfit is to improve my upper body strength to hopefully be able to perform pull ups. Outside of crossfit I would like to be more active in my spare time and possibly look into long distance running.

  7.  What does CrossFit Mean to you?

    Crossfit is a place where I can get away from life for 1 hour a day, let go of all insecurities, and challenge my physical abilities.

  9. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU AND/OR CROSSFIT, OR YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH CROSSFIT? 

    Crossfit has helped me get though a divorce, finish graduate school, and allow me to be an example for my son that with Christ you can push through and conquer anything.
    What a wonderful feeling to have my graduation dress taken in 2 sizes! Thanks Crossfit Oakland Park!
