November 2016 CrossFit Oakland Park Athlete of the Month Junior Benitez

Junior and his mother showed up to CrossFit Oakland Park to see if we can help him with weight-loss.  Immediately I said yes.

Junior told us he wanted to be healthy, eat better, and workout in other to lose weight and get stronger.  Since the day he walked into CrossFit Oakland Park, he has tried his hardest to perform the exercises that were asked of him.   Now Junior understand that his body can do anything he puts his mind to.  Click on the video below to see Junior get his first box jump after weeks of practicing to this height.  We are very proud of him!  I can’t wait to see what he is capable of in a year from now.

  1. Why did you decide to join CrossFit Oakland Park?

    I joined the CrossFit Oakland Park Because I wanted a gym that I help my overweight.  I’m only 15 years old, and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life being overweight.  So I went to CrossFit Oakland Park for help, and my mother signed me up.  At first I thought it was a crazy idea.  Now I love it!  I feel like they are saving my life.  

  2. What has kept you at CrossFit Oakland Park?

     I have stayed at CrossFit Oakland Park because they help me, and motivate me.  I have made many friends who also motivate me.  When I want to quit, they don’t let me.  The push me and I continue my fight.

  3. What is your athletic background?

    I really don’t have any type of athletic background.  I can say for the last 5 months, CrossFit has become my foundation.  I think I’m better with 💪 weights

  4. What are your athletic goals in and outside of CrossFit?

     In and outside of CrossFit I have 1 goal.  To get ride of this fat, and lose weight.   

  5.  What does CrossFit Mean to you?

    CrossFit is my time.  Here no one makes fun of me, no one judges me.  Everyone tries to help one another, and I love it.  Everyday while I’m in school, I try my hardest to get all my work done, so I can spend my time later at the CrossFit gym.  I love it!

  6. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU AND/OR CROSSFIT, OR YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH CROSSFIT? 

    That would only say is that I got into this to lose weight, and I have lost weight.  For everyone that thought I was lazy, too fat, or would just quit…  I can’t wait until they see me in a few more months.
